Florence

Florence is a beautiful city! We were able to walk everywhere today, which was amazing. Today, we got up got a quick breakfast-- espresso and pastries, YUM!

Then we headed straight for the Accedemia Gallery where Michelangelo's David is held. Walking into the hallway where David is held is like nothing I have ever seen before. It was magnificent! So gorgeous; any picture can never do it justice. Seriously, the hands, the ears, the hair, everything was done so beautifully!! There were no pictures allowed but Brianne and I tried to sneek a couple-- so this is the best we have.

After this we decided to go to the Duomo. This is a giant dome in the middle of the city where you climb 463 stairs for an amazing view. It was so vertical it was rediculous, but so worth the view!!

After the workout, we were both very hungry and decided to go accross the street to a cute Osteria for some lunch-- best lasagna I have EVER had! Then we also had salad, white beans, garlic bread and bruchetta.

After this we decided to just walk and see where it took us! We found some pretty places like a synagouge and a Russian church!

As the day went on it got hotter and hotter and we needed to go back to the hostel for a rest. I can definetly understand why people here need siestas!! After a rest and a cool down, it was getting cooler outside and time to see more. Out last two stops were Ponte Vecchio and Piazzale Michelangelo. The Ponte Vecchio is this beautiful bridge that goes accross the river (the picture is actually us standing on the brige looking at another bridge at sunset) and the Piazzale Michelangelo is this sqare that sits on a hill and overlooks the city. On the way to these stops we decided we needed to get gelato. Every other store was a Gelato store so how were we going to choose which on to go into? Look where all the locals are and where is is packed! That is exactly what we did and it was delicious! I had the womans favorite which was called Bacio (Kiss in Italian) and Ameretto! SOOOOO good!

Lastly, I had my first Italian pizza- so good! It has black olives, tomatoes and artichoke hearts on it, yum! Then we strolled back to our hostel to get a good night sleep so we are ready to get up and get on the train to Milan tomorrow!! Hope all is well!

With Love,
Arrivederci :)

  1. I love the shot with the two espressos and the pastry and the picture from the top of the Duomo! Have a safe train ride to Milan and have fun being a pigeon post in their square! : )
