Arrivederci Florence, Salve Milan!

Hello All! Well it was a great two days in Florence but this morning we checked out of our hostel and started toward Milan. But first, we stopped at the same place we went for breakfast the day before (because the pastry was so delicious!) and had cappuccino and croissants.

Then we were off to Milan. Right away we got a little lost! We took the tram going the wrong way from our hostel. Then instead of being able to simply take it back, we could not find a stop and therefore had to walk about a mile or so with our suitcases and backpacks! But finally, we found it and got settled. We still had time for a little site seeing before dark. We headed out of our hostel toward all the touristy things and stopped in this little pastry shop for a snack. I had the most delicious little bite of heaven with some type of yummy glazed fruit on top and creme in the middle. I was so excited to eat it, I forgot to take a picture :( But it was really so good, I had to tell you about it!

Our first stop was the Duomo. This thing was unbelievably huge! In the plaza there were many pigeons that you could have your picture taken with but both Brianne and I were a little too grossed out by them to want them sitting, and perhaps pooping, on our arm!

We also visited a castle. We did not get there in time to go inside but the outside was gorgeous and we are going to try and go back tomorrow to see the beautiful inside. Next to the castle was this really cute market with cheese, olive oils, olives, and costume things. It was really neat!

The guy at our hostel forgot to mention that almost everything is closed on Sunday, and if it is not closed already it closes early!! This made our shopping experience less than exciting. We went down the two famous streets for shopping and essentially said, "Oooo that one looks good, we should come back tomorrow". Dang it! Oh well. This made for an early evening back to our hostel. On our walk home I had pizza and a Coca Cola Lite for dinner--Milan is expensive!! Oh, and by the way, I have no clue what is on that pizza. It looks like onion and/or mushroom but does not taste like either of those things. I spent the whole time trying to figure out what it was.

We are still deciding whether or not to go on a day trip to Venice tomorrow or stay here in Milan. I guess we will both find out tomorrow :)

Ciao for now!
